New Horizons Project

The New Horizons Project.

The New Horizons project is a European Social Fund (ESF) funded program, which offers employability support for tenants of Steve Biko Housing and Pine Court Housing Associations and any individual from the BAME community. We are here to support the aspirations of unemployed individuals from these communities to move forward into employment, education, and training.

What we offer with our employability sessions:-

  • Boost your skills and confidence.

  • Build and improve your CV.

  • Gain experience through volunteering and work placements.

  • One to one employment advice.

  • Six week training provided (4hrs per week).

Requirements needed to join include:-

  • You must be legally able to reside in the UK.

  • You need to be unemployed to be eligible for these sessions.

  • You must also provide an ID, along with proof of address and any benefits that you receive.

Our Good News Stories :-

·       Mrs. J registered in February 2023. She registered and attended a one to one session, receiving advice and guidance which led to finding employment in May as a Catering Assistant to help her finance her university degree. 

·       Mr A registered in January 2023. As an international student, he was looking for part time work to support fund his university degree. He attended our one to one sessions, receiving help with updating his CV and job search. Since then he has successfully found employment as a part time Online Retail Assistant at Sainsburys.

·       Mrs N registered early March 2023. She needed a job to help her husband who was struggling with the cost of living. She needed support with making a CV and with job search using our onsite ICT suite. Following this she has found employment work as a part time steward at “Match Days” and at 2 Sisters as an Operative Assistant.
